The results are then presented using a dynamic thematic map, allowing you to quickly obtain a better understanding of how users respond across the globe. You can also narrow your result set by filtering certain types of users (i.e. filter by gender, age, location, political stance, religion, etc.)

MapYourVote allows you to ask and answer questions (or polls) and view their results visually using a map. MapYourVote also allows you to participate in indepth discussion on issues presented in these questions.

Voting is easy! Simply click a poll, open the "myVote" tab, select your answer and click vote! You can also change your vote (see below).

If you've voted and wish to change your vote, click the "myVote" tab. Now click the "Change vote" link located below your previous answer. Select your new answer and click "Change Vote now!"

Rating polls allows you to communicate to other MapYourVote users how awesome or not awesome you think a poll is. To rate a poll, choose how many stars you wish to give a poll and select it. You can change your rating at any time.

Favoriting a poll allows you to keep track of polls you are particularly interested in. Click the "Add to Favorites" link below the map to favorite a poll. You can unfavorite a poll at anytime.

Creating polls is an easy and fun process! First summon your curiosity and come up with a question. Think hard about how you want to phrase your question so that everyone can answer. The best question is simple, easy to understand, and asks something that will spark interest and curiosity in the whole MapYourVote community.

Now that you have your question, navigate to the create polls wizard by clicking the New link at the top of the page. In addition to the title and question, you can provide a more detailed explanation of your question in the "Description/Details" section. You can also provide a category and some keywords for your question, which will help other users find your question. Once this is done, also provide the answers to your poll question. You can have as many as 10 answers, each with their own associated color.

When your happy, simply click "Create Poll". You will be presented with a preview of your poll before the final submission. As long as your question does not contain bad language or inappropriate content, it will be posted to the public within 24 hours!

New polls are reviewed before they are posted to the site. This ensures that polls never contain bad language or inappropriate content. This process can take up to 24 hours but is usually much much faster!

To view the polls you have created, login using your username and password. Then navigate to the Profile section and click MyPolls.

Yes. To view and vote in MapYourVote polls you must login either as a full-user or a guest. This is required because M.Y.V. votes are associated with a location, and this association is what allows us to create and color the map accurately. When you create an account, you will be asked to provide your location. Note that at no time is your location ever shared with anyone.

There are two types of MapYourVote accounts, full-accounts and guest-accounts.

Full-accounts are permanent, and once you enter your location, you never need to change it (unless you move). These accounts allow you to log in and out as many times as you want, using a username and password of your choice. In addition to your location, full-accounts also allow you to add additional information about yourself. This information is used when users filter the demographic (i.e. all males, all people above age 50, etc.) If you opt to not enter a category of information you your-self are not allowed to filter by that category.

Guest-accounts are temporary and expire when you close your browser or become idle. They require you to specify your location and do not allow any additional information to be added. This means that guest users cannot filter demographic nor will there votes be counted when other users filter the demographic.

Simply navigate to the Sign Up page by clicking "Sign Up", enter the required (*) information, and click the "Sign Up" button at the bottom.

Your Profile is what represents you as MapYourVote user. It contains all of your information and allows you to easily find the polls you've created, voted in, or favorited. It also allows you to view other MapYourVote activity that you may be interested in.

Lastly your Profile provides a way to adjust settings & preferences so that you can personally optimize your MapYourVote experience.

MapYourVote uses your location along with your votes, to generate the thematic maps for each poll. Providing your real location allows you to accurately represent your self and your region. If you do not provide accurate information about yourself, there is little point in voting.
